Chapter Philanthropy and Service

Since 1 in 8 women will contract breast cancer in their lifetime, our women have a deep connection with ZTA’s philanthropy. The pink ribbon represents hope, strength, and perseverance in the fight against breast cancer, and that is why it is the biggest symbol of ZTA’s philanthropy. This fall, our chapter passed out nearly 80,000 ribbons at Ohio State’s pink out game in an effort to spread both awareness and hope. Each person who received a ribbon has likely been affected by breast cancer and it is our hope that wearing the ribbon will promote a respect and awareness of the impact breast cancer has in our world.

Without the help of our women and their devotion to our philanthropy, we would not have been able to positively affect so many lives by passing out ribbons. Ultimately, our sisters will receive better connections with each other through sharing their experiences with and passions about breast cancer education and awareness. ZTA promotes breast cancer awareness throughout the year through fundraising events, educational workshops, and our Think Pink week which takes place in October. Our year-round presence helps to ensure that we touch as many lives as possible.

Annually, our chapter holds two events to support out philanthropy. In the fall, we hold our Think Pink Week in the month of October to raise awareness and to educate our fellow Buckeyes about breast cancer. During spring semester, we hold our annual Big Buckeye on Campus, a comedic male beauty pageant that helps us raise money for breast cancer education and awareness. Through several different fundraising opportunities leading up to the event, such as Mac and Z's and Grilled Z's, we raise money and connect with other members of the Panhellenic community. Last year, we raised $30,395 through Big Buckeye on Campus. We could not do all of this without the help of our friends, family, and supporters!
